We are pleased to announce that The Preacher’s Wife will be Fairmount’s next production, to be presented on the Worship Center stage the first two weekends of December 2020.

The stage show is based on two movies - The Bishop’s Wife from 1947 starring Cary Grant, Loretta Young, and David Niven; and The Preacher’s Wife from 1996 starring Denzel Washington, Whitney Houston, and Courtney B. Vance.

The Bishop/Preacher, Henry, has been working for months on the plans for an elaborate new church which he hopes will be paid for primarily by a wealthy, stubborn widow. He is losing sight of his family and of why he became a churchman in the first place. Enter Dudley, an angel sent to help him. Dudley does help everyone he meets, but not necessarily in the way they would have preferred. With the exception of Henry, everyone loves him, but Henry begins to suspect that Dudley is there to replace him, both at work and in his family's affections, as Christmas approaches.

This story has obvious Christian overtones, and shows how all of us can lose track of our real goals as we go through life.

All cast members must audition for a speaking role in The Preacher’s Wife. Also, there is a need for a large technical and backstage crew, as we may not have any permanent set pieces and will need a good number of people to help with construction of moveable set pieces and to move them around during the show. Anyone interested in participating in the the show can click on the links to the left for complete audition and show information.
