Henry Brown - (Adult Male) Pastor of Elm Street Christian Church. He is obsessed with building a new, shiny mega church in the suburbs. He is a good man at heart, but he has wandered off his path a bit. Audition readings: Act 1 scene 5, page 14-17, Act 1 scene 6, page 18-19; Act 2 scene 17, page 49-50; Act 2 Scene 18 page 52-53; Act 2 scene 23, page 64-66

Julia Brown - (Adult Female) She is married to Henry, so she is “The Preacher’s Wife.” She is doing her best to support Henry’s mission, but she sees that Henry has wandered off his path a bit. She’s not sure how to help him. Audition readings: Act 1 Scene 1, page 2-4; Act 1 scene 6, page 18-19; Act 1 scene 13, page 38-41

Dudley - (Adult Male) He is an angel sent from Heaven to help Henry. He is unorthodox in his methods, but of course, he has only good intentions. He is very happy to be back on earth, and that gets in the way of him doing his job on occasion. Professor Wutheridge - (Adult Male) He is a local university professor and an old friend of Julia and Henry. He is eccentric. Audition readings: Act 1 Scene 1, page 2-4; Act 2 Scene 18, page 52-53

Mrs. Hamilton - (Adult Female) The richest lady in town. Very haughty and aloof and a bit mean. She, along with Henry, has the biggest turnaround in the play. Audition readings: Act 2 scene 17, page 49-50

Debby Brown - (Child Female - age to be determined) She is Julia and Henry’s daughter. She’s a typical young lady with a bit of sassiness. Audition readings: Act 2 scene 19, page 54-55

Margaret - (Adult Female) Julia’s mother. She lives with Julia and Henry. She is opinionated and can hold her own with anyone. She can sometimes be a little too much in Julia and Henry’s business. Audition readings: Act 2 scene 16, page 47-48 

Billy - (Adult Male) Restaurant owner and musician. Old friend of Julia and Henry. Must be able to play an instrument (piano or guitar) in the show. Audition readings: Act 1 scene 13, page 38-41

Brenda - (Adult Female) Henry’s office assistant. She’s a single mother and is a bit overwhelmed by life, but remains good natured anyway. Audition readings: Act 1 scene 5, page 13-14

Stevens - (Adult Male) Mrs. Hamilton’s servant/butler. Audition readings: Act 2 scene 17, page 49-50

Mr. Maggenti - (Adult Male [could be female]) Christmas tree seller. Audition readings: Act 1 Scene 1

Mr. Perry - (Adult Male [could be female]) One of Mrs. Hamilton’s toady associates.

Mrs. Trumbull - (Adult Female [could be male]) One of Mrs. Hamilton’s toady associates.

Mrs. Ward - (Adult Female [could be male]) One of Mrs. Hamilton’s toady associates.

William - (Adult Male [could be female]) A cafe waiter.

Various kids - wide range of ages for children’s church choir. Number to be determined.

Waiter - (Adult Male [could be female]) At Billy’s.
